Living in Grace–Grenada
Looking into new opportunities energizes me when I consider how the Lord is opening up fresh prospects for spreading the good news of the Gospel and strengthening His church.
The Living in Grace Seminar went very well in Grenada. We had twenty-seven people attend the seminar from the three Presbyterian churches (which is about 33% of the active members).
I have seen a growth in the spiritual lives of many of the believers there, largely due to the intensive Bible studies Rev. Osbert James has begun. They were so excited that they want to hold another conference next year.
This picture is of a church which had been established in the 1830’s by Scottish Presbyterians. It was heavily damaged from Hurricane Ivan. This broken down church reflects the state of many of the local churches (people, not buildings) in the Caribbean due to liberalism, the lack of godly leadership and biblical teaching.
Therefore, the focus of our efforts in the Caribbean is strengthening the local church through training and providing resources for growth. I spent time in Trinidad with Steve McGee encouraged by the opportunities God is providing. Steve (a United Reformed Church missionary) is working with MINTS (Miami International Theological Seminary) to develop learning centers in the English speaking Caribbean Islands. We are partnering with Steve in this effort. I will be developing some MINTS courses in leadership and will teach in St. Vincent some time next year.
